HFIP has engaged Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies (CIDS) ex-Islamia University Bahawalpur and Cholistan University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (CUVAS) to join hands in preserving the flora and fauna through regular seeding.  During the year seeds of different trees which naturally fall are collected and carefully nurtured in seed banks at HFIP and CIDS nurseries at Derawar Fort.  Consequently in monsoon season, volunteer students from institutions and CBC employees broadcast a vast variety of seeds in the habitat. This exercise enables the habitat to endure and sustain lean periods like extreme heat and drought.
